Come and visit the BRC

We have different opportunities for you to join the Batumi Raptor Count. The first one is to be a part as full time counter for at least 2 weeks. During this time you will monitor raptors from one of the stations and live in the BRC headquarters with other counters and the coordinators. If you don't like the obligation of counting for two weeks, you can come as a visitor. We provide you  with a guesthouse at a local family, you are free to go wherever you like and we even offer transport service to local bird watching spots.
The BRC is conducting its first spring count in Batumi from April 1st till May 31st and invites everybody who is keen to join the migration count.
This pilot study aims to record data on all passing raptors, waders, seabirds and passerines in Batumi to create a full data set on phenology, timing and abundance. Both counters and visitors are welcome!
In order to allow a broader public to visit this hotspot for bird migration, BRC arranges guesthouses with local families in the village near one of the count sites. They host you with true honest Georgian hospitality, and provide you with private rooms, breakfast, lunch (or picknick) and diner whenever you want. With your visit you support the local economy and our project!

We warmly invite everybody to join the autumn raptor count. The survey will be held from 17 Aug until 16 Oct.
The application process is open!

One pillar of BRCs conservation work is promoting ecotourism. By generating international interest and by facilitating visits to the region, we increase the appreciation for the migration spectacle among the local community. To obtain this, we work together with local families. We have established a framework to channel bookings and excursions, coordinate the hospitality and assist the hosts with advice and information on the specifics of a birders public.
By staying in a BRC guesthouse, you support our approach, and contribute directly to the local economy.
