Visiting the BRC project

If you want to visit Batumi and enjoy the raptor migration, but are not able or willing to participate for at least two weeks as a full-time counter, then you can join the project as a ‘Visitor’. This means that you have full flexibility to stay as many days at the project as you want, and to come to and leave the count stations whenever you feel like it. You can also use the BRC accommodation as a base to explore the natural hotspots of the region, and we will be glad to assist you in organising your excursions.

(c) Jim Sundberg The BRC works together with the local community to organize home stays where visitors are offered accommodation including full board. The accommodation includes a comfortable private room in a family’s house with shared bathroom. The family will prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner for you, at the time you desire. It is also possible to ask for a lunch packet to take along. Upon arrival, pick-up at the airport or bus station can be arranged.

(c) Jim Sundberg During your stay you can attend the BRC count stations (Sakhalvasho, Shuamta) and visit other birding and/or cultural highlights in the region. Your homestay will be located close to one of the count stations, and transport to the other one can be arranged through BRC. We will also assist you in organizing trips to some other popular destinations in the region (Mtirala National Park, Chorokhi Delta, Kobuleti and Kolkheti National Park). Upon arrival, you will receive a Georgian cell phone, which you can use for communication with BRC.
